To my lovely gals of the galaxy,
Women’s History Month is a big month for Gals Guide. Granted, what we do in March is the same as what we do 365 days a year – highlight women of history – but we’re especially busy each March.
Which makes what I’m doing all the more radical.
I’ve been deeply inspired by Tricia Hersey of The Nap Ministry and her incredible book Rest is Resistance. It’s our Book Club pick for March. I’m now more aware of how necessary rest is beyond what mainstream wellness culture tries to sell you. I am so thankful to Tricia and her work. My intention is to share this wisdom with those who will find benefit. I hope you will join me in a call to action rest.
There’s a lot to sit with in the world right now. There are interconnected systems in place that are purposefully designed to make it impossible for a woman to rest. But resting, as Tricia says in her book, “I believe rest, sleep, naps, day dreaming, and slowing down can help us all wake up to see the truth of ourselves. Rest is a healing portal to our deepest selves. Rest is care. Rest is radical.”
That’s why I’m inviting anyone who is up for it to answer the call to rest. To follow the wisdom of The Nap Ministry. Rest as resistance from March 27-31. It doesn’t matter whether it’s 5 minutes, 5 hours, or all 5 days. Rest.
I recommend laying down and reading Rest is Resistance by Tricia Hersey.
There is also a Nap Ministry Spotify Playlist
I also recorded this podcast episode about Tricia and the Nap Ministry.
