To all the travelers of this galaxy:
Gal’s Guide has been spending the last few days assessing the situation. Our first action was to see how the women who have come to our events are doing. We’ve had gals message us in private about harassment at work, school and in their own homes since election night. Many of our gals are scared of the unknown. Will the rights of women and girls be taken away? Will our brother’s and sister’s rights be taken away? Will women and girls face more harassment? We don’t know.
Here is what we know: Gal’s Guide will continue to support women and girls, provide a space to build each other up and not tear each other down. This mission is not just for one election cycle. This is who G3 is every day. We will continue to educate on women’s history. We will continue to celebrate women’s successes. We will continue learning how to navigate current obstacles for women and girls together. We will continue to provide places for dialogue.
We have gals on a spectrum of political leaning, education, background, race and sexual identity. It is our differences that allow us to learn from each other. It’s our differences that strengthen our empathy for all travelers and make this galaxy a better place.
We encourage you to join us. Every month we offer an event or activity to bring women and girls together to support, educate and empower. We offer consciousness awareness meetings, craft nights and book discussions. Please subscribe to our newsletter for all our events and activities.
Carl Sagan once said, “You’re an interesting species. An interesting mix. You’re capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you’re not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we’ve found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other.” Just as the galaxy is vast and the universe is mostly unknown, we find strength in each other.
