The Village of Spermatoville

$25.00

Linda illustrates The Village of Spermatoville: Where Life Begins and the Universe Smiles. Written by former biology professor and researcher,Dr. Albert Rubenstein, the graphic novel takes a whimsical approach to questions such as: How does life evolve? How does a complex state of matter become conscious?  What is the destiny of intelligent life? Does life add any value to our universe?

The story revolves around the fictional village of Spermatoville, which is inhabited by gametes (sperm) that were implanted by beings from another world for the sole purpose of selecting the best fit for the hazardous journey to unite with the egg and form the beings that created them. When the village outlives its purpose, the end of Spermatoville appears certain. What can possibly save these curious but naïve creatures that have fatefully carried out their limited destiny? Dr. Rubenstein intertwines information from scientists who have made amazing discoveries throughout history –many you probably have never heard of.

Geared to 13+ years old, The Village of Spermatoville is a fun way to learn about complex issues science is attempting to address in the 21st century.

The beautiful illustrations and layout by Carmel-based graphic artist Linda Lange bring the story to life, leading readers to visually follow the characters as they learn their life purpose in the Spermatozoa Academy and face the dangers in the River of Life. Her caricatures of scientists such as Newton, Einstein, Doudna and Freud capture their provocative personalities.
