We can be heroes!
Everyday there is a chance to learn from a hero. They might be on the printed page, on a movie screen, or sitting across from us at dinner. What is the hero and heroine’s path?
Deep dive into the similarities and differences of two story structures. The Hero’s Journey is used in nearly every movie you’ve seen; however, women’s lives tend to follow the Heroine’s Journey map. Let’s learn from both with a women-centered lens. Let’s see what elements help us write our stories and help navigate our lives.
Gals Guide teaches in an ancient method sometimes called “The Three Levels of a House of a Happy Person.” Students will have a listening portion, a contemplation portion, and a meditation. This structure is to allow the student time to find the personal wisdom in the class.
This 5-week workshop will be taught online both synchronously and asynchronously. Classes are live on Wednesdays in September and posted online the next day to watch or re-watch. Students will have access to the recorded classes and workshop materials for 1 year.

Course Structure
We are flexible because we know lives get busy. You can take the classes live on Wednesdays, watch recordings, or do a bit of both. Registered students will have access to videos and digital materials for 1 year.
LIVE ONLINE OPTION: (synchronous) Classes will be on Wednesday evenings, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Central, September 2 – 30. Leah will lead the classes live online using our unique teaching method, which includes contemplation, meditation, discussion, and worksheets.
SELF-LED VIDEO OPTION: (asynchronous) Take the class at your own pace. Watch and pause videos as you need. The videos will be unedited uploads from the Wednesday class. Videos will be available Thursday evenings.
ONE-ON-ONE TIME: Schedule time with Leah for any questions relating to class.
STUDENT COMMUNITY: Registered students get access to a private Discord channel within the Gals Guide server to build community, ask questions, share stories, and more.

Meet Your Instructor
Dr. Leah “Riwo” Leach is the founder of Gals Guide which was awarded 2022 Organization of the Year by Advancing Noblesville and received Congressional Recognition for their outstanding and invaluable service to the community. In 2024, Leah was awarded Arts Leader by Noblesville Creates.
Leah is an award-winning writer, filmmaker, and podcaster with multiple (silly) honorary doctorates. She has been published in The Polk Street Review, Pattern, Comic Book in a Day, as well as Gal’s Guide Anthology. She’s published 4 books under the name Kate Chaplin. Her work has been shown on MTV, VH1, Discovery Channel, Sci-Fi Channel, ABC, and FOX. She is a Buddhist practitioner for over 30 years. Leah has adapted her storytelling training into the unique way Gals Guide teaches and writes about history. Leah has taught the Mother Castle Method at the Indiana Writer’s Center, InConjunction Sci-Fi Fantasy Convention, and Indiana Comic Con. She has recently moved from Noblesville, Indiana to Moorhead, Minnesota.
Tuition Rates
- Tuition is $125 per person for all 5 weeks
- Classes are September 2 – 30
- Tuition includes live online sessions, recorded sessions, digital materials, and access to one-on-one chats with Leah.
- Students aged 15-115 are encouraged to register

Scholarships
In previous years, Gals Guide was awarded grants that made economic space to offer financial resources to students. Due to federal funding limitations, many grants are on pause. Gals Guide is currently applying to grants that are a right fit in hopes to offer accessible classes, free classes, and more scholarship opportunities.
Gals Guide intention is to provide meaningful services as well as keep Gals Guide financially a float. We want to be accessible but we also want to keep our doors open – it’s a rough balance.
