Film Club

Leah Leach is our resident movie geek. With a background of working in movie theaters, video stores, and 18 years behind the camera, she’s got a knack for picking an interesting movie to talk about.

And we don’t care about the first rule of Fight Club, the first rule of Film Club is: You talk about Film Club.

How it works

  1. Sign up for Film Club below with your email.
  2. Leah picks a title for each month and emails you.
    • Selections might be documentary, indie, or mainstream.
    • Leah is making a strong effort to pick titles that are available on streaming sites.
  3. You watch the film on your own.
  4. We meet on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 5:30pm at the Gal’s Guide Library (Zoom option as well)

Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché

2018 release

When Alice Guy-Blaché completed her first film in 1896 Paris, she was not only the first female filmmaker, but one of the first directors ever to make a narrative film. Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché follows her rise from Gaumont secretary to her appointment as head of production a year later, and her subsequent illustrious 20-year career in France and in the United States, as the founder of her own studio and as writer, director, and/or producer of 1,000 films—after which she was veritably erased from history. Until now….

Director: Pamela B. Green

Narrated by: Jodie Foster

Available at the Gal’s Guide Library

For the August meeting, there will be a slight change of plans. An email will go out tomorrow to registered peeps. The meeting will start at 7pm and be available on Zoom and at the library. This is a special situation because we also have a WIN (Women in Noblesville) book club gathering starting at 5:30pm on the same day
